Online Job Search Networking is Here to Stay; Master It!

Online Networking

Online Job Search Networking is a must!

One of my job search clients told me today that they hope that the COVID vaccine rollout speeds up because they want to get back to attending in person networking meetings (Woo is one of their top 5 strengths based on the Clifton StrengthFinders Assessment). I told them that it’s going to be a while before this happened, so they need to get extremely proficient at online video networking because it’s here to stay! This is the top way that my job search clients are finding positions that aren’t posted (the hidden job market)!

So here’s a RULE for you to think about . . .

ONLINE JOB SEARCH NETWORKING ISN’T GOING AWAY!

. . . Everyone that has more than 10 years of experience and a salary greater than $100K annually should be spending at least 50% of their job search conducting online networking with hiring managers to be successful, and the best way to do this right now is through a one-on-one video meeting! Start by finding people online, especially through LinkedIn, and then start an conversation. Once you have done this, move to a phone call or better yet a video call (Zoom today has a free version that you can do up to 40 minute calls).  Don’t wait; jump right in and start doing this and you will find that lots of people will be happy to assist! As a matter of fact, here is my LinkedIn Profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/marklauterbach/ Send me an invitation request and I’d be happy to network with you.
